Diary of a Day
Learning-by-the-sea is a unique experience
6:00 a.m., I joined the morning yoga class at Casa Playa by the sea. The sound of the ocean was a mellow mantra that accompanied our practice. The class was structured to accommodate those with or without yoga experience.
7:00 a.m., Matts rolled, we stepped out onto the oceanfront deck and were met with pitchers of freshly-made wheatgrass juice! This is a sweet and gentle Ann Wigmore Institute morning. Mid-afternoon, I’ll definitely come back for Restorative Yoga or Feldenkrais class.
7:15 a.m. Off to the greenhouse for my first planting course. I’m so excited that I will be learning how to easily grow sprouts and microgreens at home.
8:30 a.m., Silent Breakfast, and Ann Wigmore’s Energy Soup is always available.
I enjoyed my breakfast by the ocean. Others sat together in the dining room or in several outdoor locations.
11:00 a.m., The morning classes are divided by a snack break. Today it’s a green juice. Tomorrow it might be a wonderful almond milk smoothie with fresh fruit and crunchy “buckwheaties.”
It’s 12:30 p.m. and after a full morning of lively and enlightening classes about Living Foods, enzymes, and our digestive system, it’s lunchtime! The friendly kitchen staff has prepared a colorful, tasty meal – delicious zucchini “pasta” served with a mouth-watering salad featuring sunflower sprouts and vibrant microgreens. After a 3 day cleanse of all blended meals, this is a welcome treat. Energy Soup, Ann Wigmore’s nutrient-rich and easily digestible “signature” dish, is available at every meal. This lunch is food for my soul! The enzymes enrich my body, the taste and texture satisfies my palette.
1:00 p.m., is free time. After lunch, I rest in a hammock while my new friends take a leisurely walk on the sunny beach and a refreshing swim in the ocean.
2:30 p.m., I’m relax and off to my personalized, Deep Tissue Massage.
At 4:15 p.m., classes resume. The topic today is colon care and how to give yourself an enema. The apprehensions of those new to self-care of the colon are quickly put to rest by our teacher’s comfort and good humor. She discusses the benefits of including enemas as part of detoxing. She explains how simple and worthwhile the process can be.
6:00 p.m., I join my classmates for a blended dinner of Energy Soup topped with a tasty sunflower yogurt dressing. It’s been a great day and I feel terrific! Now I’m off for my sunset walk along the beach. The sunsets here, reflecting the ocean, are spectacular.
Does it get any better than this? Yes! Eight more days in paradise and I’ll graduate with my Living Foods Lifestyle™ certificate in hand. Most importantly, I am gaining a feeling that I am in control of my own health. It looks like I made an excellent (and a healthy!) vacation choice.
